Zzzzz

Chloe had managed to jump over the railings of her bed, sat on the floor probably for some time then could not to get back to bed. Her beautiful brown eyes looked at me as I walked in and continued to cry. I picked her up and wiped her tears. She rested her head on my shoulders and held my chest. I walked to the kitchen and gave her a glass of warm milk.

After she was done, she held to me so tightly and rested her head again on my body. She was struggling to stay awake. Since I was still sleepy, I took her to my bed. I placed her in the middle of the bed between Fred and I.  We slept.

After about two hours, I felt the bed slightly move. I opened my eyes to see Fred wake up and stretch himself. He was wearing his blue boxers that he always sleeps in. I didn’t move, rather watch him from the corner of my eyes. I felt like I was with a different man. This is not the Fred I knew. He had turned out to be so insecure, quick to anger and jealous. The sad thing is that the anger and all other issues were consuming him from deep within.

He walked to the bathroom to take a shower.

I looked over at Chloe and she was still sleeping. Her little hands were above her head while her right feet was on Fred’s side. I closed my eyes again.

My phone rang.

I turned over and picked it at the third ring. I looked over at the screen to see who was calling. It was my mom.

“Mommy.” I said.

She laughed. “Catherine, good morning.”

“Good morning mum.”

“Did I wake you?” She asked.

“No. I was already up.” I lied.

“Okay, good. I wanted to ask if you will be coming over to my house this coming weekend.”

“What’s happening?”

“Nothing really.” She answered. “I really miss you. Thought we might catch up.”

“Ahhh…Next weekend might be a bit tricky for me as Fred had asked we go over to his parents place.” I replied.

“Alright.”

“Mom, what if i come over during the week?” I asked.

“That’s fine. I hope you wont go out of your schedule for the day?”

“Its alright. Don’t worry about it.”

“Thank you. See you soon.”

“Love you.”

“Love you too.” She replied.

I hang up. The time on the phone read ten minutes to eleven.
