To Life

We found the nanny and Chloe singing along a kids song. She ran towards us as soon as we stepped in the house and gave us big hugs. I went and sat next to the nanny.

“Hey, how have you guys been?” I asked.

“We have been good.” She replied. “But Chloe did not eat her food well.”

“Why?”

“She kept refusing to eat. She only took a few spoonfuls of the mac and cheese.” She said.

“Alright. What about her juice?” I asked. “Did she finish?”

“Yes she did. She also took some water.”

“Good.” I continued. “Ill monitor her and see how she will be during dinner.”

The nanny took her bag from the corner of  the room and came towards me. “I have to go now.”

“No problem.” I said. “Thank you for taking care of the baby.”

“I am glad to.”

I closed the door after her and walked to the bedroom where Fred was. He was on his phone.

“Hey dear, will you have some food?” I asked.

“Yes please. I am starving.”

“Alright. Will you have the leftover chicken stew with rice or can i prepare something else?”

“Ill have some chicken with rice.” He said.

I went to the kitchen to warm his food up. I was not hungry so I poured myself a glass of apple juice. Chloe came in the kitchen and held onto my dress.

“Yes baby.”

“Juice.” She said.

I took another cup and poured some juice for her. She went and sat in the living room and drunk it while watching cartoons.

After the food was ready, I called Fred to the living room for him to have his dinner. He came and sat next to me, took the remote and changed the channel. He put on Netflix and we continued watching “The Blacklist” series from where we had left it at.

“Would you like some wine?” I asked when he was done with his food.

“Yes. Do we have red or white?”

“Red. It is a Cabernet Sauvignon.”

“Great. Bring it.”

I went to the fridge and got the bottle of wine on the lower shelf. I grabbed two glasses and poured the wine in each glass. I gave one to Fred.

“Cheers!” He said while raising his glass.

“What are we celebrating?”

“To life.”
