Go to Church

The next morning, I woke up at 8.30am and prepared myself. I decided to go and attend the morning service at the local church down the road. It has been a while since I last went to one. As I was dressing up, Fred sat up on the bed.

“Where are you going to this early on a Sunday?” He asked.

“To the church down the road.”

“Really?” He asked a bit confused.

“Yes. Why are you so surprised?” I asked.

“I have never known you to be a church person.”

I laughed.

“I am spiritual not religious.” I replied.

“Okay.” He said. “Why don’t we go together?”

“Alright.” I replied. “We have like an hour. Ill go wake up Chloe.”

As I was busy preparing Chloe, my mind drifted to how my family was. It was a while since I talked to either my brother, his family or my mum. I made a mental note to call them after church and see how they are doing.

The church service was beautiful. The sermon was about hope. How people should always be hopeful and have faith on anything they undertake.

After church, we made a decision to drive all the way down to the hospital where Fred’s mum was admitted. She was on the first floor room sixteen. She smiled as soon as she saw us. She sat up straight, moved the adjustable table on the side and called us to come hug her. After the greetings, we sat on the seats placed in the room.

The room did not even look like a hospital. The bed was not the standard size placed in the hospitals. The room was painted white, with light blue curtains. There was a 32 inch TV on the center of the room on mute. The room was comfortable enough.

“I am so happy to see you all.” She started. “It is really boring being in a hospital. The white ceiling can be depressing.”

“You will be out of here soon.” Fred told her.

“I hope so. The doctor told me I can leave probably tomorrow.”

“That’s good.” Fred said. “How are you feeling?”

“I’m better. I just have a migraine but the nurses told me it is because of the medicines I have been taking.”

“Have they given you something to at least relieve it?” I asked.

“Yes they have. They have given me some mild painkillers.”

“I talked to dad yesterday and he told me that you are here.” Fred said. “I was worried about you.”

“Fred, do not be so stressed about me. I will manage this and be home as soon as possible. ”

We stayed with her for about an hour then left. We passed by the ice cream shop where we got some servings for ourselves. Chloe was excited!
