“Hi mum.” I said on the phone.
“Hi Catherine. Is everything okay?” Mum asked. She always assumes something is wrong when I call her very early in the morning.
“Yes mum. Everything is okay. Was just checking up on you.” I said.
“Catherine, don’t lie to me.” She insisted.
“Okay mom. I have some news to tell you. It’s kind of big.”
“Okay, I’m listening.”
“Remember the guy I told you that I was dating?” I asked.
“Yes. Has he hurt you?”
“No mum. He has proposed.”
“What?” She asked surprised almost screaming. “Did I hear that correctly?”
“Oh my God. What did you say?”
“I said yes mum.”
The following minutes were like a form of interrogation on if I was ready for the whole ‘fiancee’ issue. Mum still thinks I was still her little baby and obviously has fears on me taking the big bold steps. Dad later called me as he had gone to attend some issues and asked me on the same. He was really happy for me. He didn’t even ask any questions just saying that if i was happy with Fred then he didn’t have a problem with it.
